Regalo Box combines the convenience of the gift card with the ever increasing trend of buying and giving experiences. On one hand, gift cards give the customers the ability to give choice reducing the risk and complexity of finding the perfect gift. On the other hand experience is a much more durable gift than any product as it will be kept in the memories for ever won´t break be lost or old fashioned. The other plus of Regalo Box is that it is not about how much money your gift card is charged up with but which universe you can access with it making it much more Latin and acceptable than giving a typical gift card charged with money. Both Google search for Gift card (or voucher or Cartao presente) and Experiencia have soared in south american key countries such as Brazil, Venezuela, Peru and Chile. Groupon also showed that selling services online in South America is a sound business but those discount portals have not focused their efforts on the B2B market which is keen on buying gift cards for their employees nor on the gifting process. Whereas a few companies already focus on producing gift experience gift cards in South America they mainly focus on their local retail and B2B market and lose much of the scalability of their model by printing an heavy and expensive brochure that comes with their gift card. We pretend to go global quickly and without heavy investment by focusing on a web strategy both as a sales channel and a new kind of consumer experience. Regalo Box has been running for almost a year in Chile and we plan to use the Start Up Chile 40K fund to enhance our internet focus and expand our network of service providers to South America.
